The Government of West Bengal is currently offering the India Swami Vivekananda Scholarship to Indian students. The Swami Vivekananda Scholarship (SVMCM), also known as the Bikash Bhavan Scholarship, is a merit-cum-means based scholarship program for deserving and economically backward students of West Bengal. Furthermore, the income criteria for application is not more than Rs. 2,50,000/- per annum. Eligible students at the higher secondary level, diploma (Polytechnic) level, undergraduate level, postgraduate level, M. Phil./ doctoral level as well as Kanyashree (K-2) recipients can apply. Also, it’s important to note that applicants who opt for these scholarships and who are eligible will not be able to benefit from any other government scholarship, stipend, or grant (central/state) for the same course/study phase. More About Swami Vivekananda Merit-cum-Means Scholarship 2022 (SVMCM 2022)
In order to help meritorious students from economically backward families in the state of West Bengal to pursue higher education, the West Bengal government presents its scholarship scheme to different levels of higher studies in educational institutions based in West Bengal. The Swami Vivekananda Merit Cum Means Scholarship Scheme was fully renewed in 2016 to cover more students, as well as to significantly increase the scholarship amount. Swami Vivekananda was one of the great social philosophers and explorers of social reforms in India. Swami Vivekananda was also the principal disciple of St. Ramakrishna Paramhansa. Within his short life span of 39 years, he made a significant introduction of Vedanta and yoga to the Western world. Furthermore, he focused on different aspects of religion, education, character development, and social issues related to India. Swami Vivekananda believed that “Education is a manifestation needed by every human” as it is the assimilation of noble ideas. Hence, the Swami Vivekananda Scholarship is awarded in his honor.

This SVMCM Bikash Bhavan Scholarship 2022 is open to the students in the following level and fields:
Class XI and XII,An undergraduate level in Engineering, Medical and Technical/Professional courses Postgraduate level students pursuing General Degree courses. M.Phil courses and PhD courses (NON-NET JUNIOR RESEARCH FELLOW and NET-LECTURERSHIP) from State-aided InstitutionsFinally, Kanyashree recipients (K-2) pursuing Post Graduate courses in Science, Arts, and Commerce stream from Universities in West Bengal after obtaining Under Graduate Degree with 45% marks in aggregate from Institutions of this State will come under the aegis of this Scholarship Scheme.

Means Judging Criteria
The total family income for prospective scholars should not exceed Rs. 2,50,000/- per annum. Merit Judging Criteria
Candidates whose family income does not exceed Rs. 2,50,000/- per annum will be judged according to their academic merit as indicated below: The minimum qualifying marks to be considered for awards of scholarships will be an aggregate of 75% in Madhyamik Pariksha. Also, the total marks obtained in the Madhyamik Parkisha excluding pass marks in the additional subject, if any, will be the sole criterion for consideration. Candidates from outside the West Bengal Board of Secondary Education will not be eligible to apply for this scholarship. Students who are enrolled after passing out in Secondary (M.P) examination or its equivalent as stated above for first-year Diploma (Polytechnic) course[ H.S. Examination or its equivalent for Diploma in Pharmacy or Modern Office Practice and Management of two years duration] and after passing out in “West Bengal State Council of Vocational Education and Training “ courses, which is equivalent to H.S Examination for 2nd-year Diploma(Polytechnic) courses on lateral entry basis, will be eligible to apply. Also, applicants must obtain at least 75% marks in aggregate in the qualifying examination for applying for the scholarship [excluding the marks secured in the optional elective subject, if any]. Examination conducted by the W.B. Council of H.S. Education/Madrasha Siksha Parishad. Separate merit lists will be prepared for the UG (Arts), UG (Commerce), UG (Science). Candidates should be graduates securing at least 53% marks in the Honours subject at the graduation level. The marks obtained in the Honours subject will be the only deciding criterion academically for the award of the PG-level scholarships. Furthermore, Kanyashree recipients (K-2) (married/unmarried) pursuing Post Graduate courses in Science, Arts, and Commerce stream from Universities of this State after obtaining Under Graduate Degree with 45% marks in aggregate from Institutions of this State will come under the aegis of this Scholarship Scheme. Also, note that there is no need to submit the Income Certificate and Income Affidavit in respect of Kanyashree students applying for K-3 scholarship under the Swami Vivekananda Merit–cum–Means Scholarship Scheme. How to Apply For Swami Vivekananda Scholarship
Applicants from different categories will submit their applications online on the SVMCM scholarship portal. Applications for i.r.o scholarships will be arranged in descending order (on the basis of marks obtained in the Qualification Exam, outside the income/means criteria). In addition, the scholarship will be sanctioned according to the availability of funds and strictly on the basis of the merit list. The fund can be transferred to the beneficiary’s account if the documents are in order. Swami Vivekananda Scholarship Renewal 2022
For renewal of scholarship, the application must be submitted online to the corresponding scholarship awarding authority within one month from the date of his/her admission in the next higher class due to promotion by passing in the first attempt. (In case of Semester mode-All Semester Examinations need to be cleared in the first attempt). Also, renewal cases (concentrated only at a particular level of study) will be sanctioned subject to good academic performance (Minimum 60% marks should be obtained from Higher Secondary Level to Undergraduate Level at the promotional examination) and 50% marks at Post Graduate Level).
